A Mad Hatter, Steampunk Photoset By Cozpho Photography

Cozpho Photography, owned by the ever talented Nikita Kieselowsky, is a Central New Jersey based Cosplay photography company that shoots sets as diverse as her clientele.  Her style is a mix of photojournalism mixed with fine art.  Her photographs are highly creative with an airy abstract fantasy feel while capturing a story all in one click - which lends itself to creative wedding photoshoots, stylized photosets and absolutely stunning imagery.  You probably have seen Cozpho’s work in the Women of Comic Book Cosplay calendar and the upcoming issue of the fashion magazine KEEL. And if you have ever been to any of the Comic or Anime inspired conventions along the East coast, you’ve probably seen her shooting at them.  She’s been quite busy, as every scheduled session she offers has been fully booked for past (and upcoming) conventions - that’s how good her photography is. While Anime and Cosplay may be her first love, she also is embarking on shooting alternative and nontraditional weddings.

Nikita told us a bit about how she got started and where she wants to be in the future:

“Starting as a cosplayer at conventions myself, I realized just how important it was for people to have great photos to showcase all of their hard work. This led me to start branching out with my photography hobby at conventions. Soon enough, I was trying new things and becoming more serious with it. I really enjoy shooting alternative photography that draws the eye and keeps it there. It’s a lot of fun, and I definitely get to be more creative, because basically anything goes. I’ve always loved seeing photos that were captured in the middle of a small moment: a jump, a kick, a dance move, an unexpected facial expression, etc. So I try to capture more of a dramatic angle during photoshoots that shows the subject’s personality. I look forward to working on alternative wedding photography in the future, because each wedding can be as creative and fun as you want it to be, and emotions are sure to run high. It’s a once in a lifetime experience that I want to help capture for the bride and groom in a way that will make them smile for years to come.”

I had the pleasure of viewing so many of her photo sets, I had a hard time deciding on just which one to highlight in this post.  Since Inked Weddings has been focused on Steampunk weddings this week, I thought her Mad Hatter / Alice in Wonderland stylized set would be ideal to highlight her fabulous work.

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.
“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat.
“We’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”
“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.
“You must be,” said the Cat, or you wouldn’t have come here.”

I almost feel as these photos weren’t staged but rather, Cozpho Photography ripped a page out of Alice in Wonderland and made it come to life.  Her use of props and color give this a vintage and dark feel to the “madness” of the storyline.  These vintage inspired tea themed items can be purchased at hobby shops, online stores, and antique shops - all perfect for a Steampunk wedding.

“Take some more tea,” the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly.
“I’ve had nothing yet,” Alice replied in an offended tone, “so I can’t take more.”
“You mean you can’t take less,” said the Hatter: “it’s very easy to take more than nothing.”

“Yes, that’s it! Said the Hatter with a sigh, it’s always tea time.”

“Well that was the silliest tea party I ever went to! I am never going back there again!”

Clearly, now that you had the awesome pleasure of experiencing a sample of Cozpho Photography‘s marvelous work, you need to say hello and check out her complete portfolio by following her on Facebook, Flickr and Twitter.  If you are in the NY / NJ or surrounding areas and would like to book Nikita from Cozpho for a session, reach out to her at [email protected] and tell her Inked Weddings sent you.
