The Beautiful Bride: Laura, a freelance editor and marketing consultant

and Her Gorgeous Groom: John

Location: Bell Rock Visitors Center, Sedona, Arizona

Date: March 17, 2022

Theme of Wedding: St. Patrick’s Day

Laura and John truly incorporated the theme of St. Patrick’s Day into their wedding - from the use of paisley green bow ties and shoes to her lovely crushed velvet green dress and their matching Celtic wedding bands.

In Laura’s own words: “We wanted a unique setting, so we were married outdoors at the gloriously picturesque Bell Rock visitor center in Sedona, Arizona.” And what a unique setting it is indeed! Even the fields surrounding them on this beautiful day seemed to pull in the color green.  The first photo reminds me of the emerald green fields of Ireland.  If I didn’t know better, I would think these outdoor scenes were photographed overseas.

Laura and John’s setting wasn’t the only unique aspect of their wedding.  Both in their 40’s and marrying for the first time, neither had pre-wedding jitters as they helped each other prepare for the big day.  Their entire wedding party was 14 people and included their family, friends and even the caregiver that helped take care of Laura’s mother.  You can tell by how large their bridal party was that they have a very supportive network!

Laura has DIY talent - she made her wedding bouquet with flowers she sourced at a local store.  The colors in this photo really pop and show just how pretty a DIY wedding bouquet can really be!

Laura says, “We incorporated aspects of all our combined ethnicities (Mexican, Irish, Italian, Czech, and Hungarian) into our ceremony.”  The breaking of the plate ceremony is taken from a Czech wedding tradition. According to tradition, a plate is broken at the feet of the bride and groom and they must clean the pieces up together to promote the ability to work together throughout their marriage.

But the moment that stood out in Laura’s interview as one of the most meaningful events was that Laura’s son, whom she placed for adoption at birth attended the ceremony along with his adoptive parents.  On the day of the ceremony Laura told me, “We learned that his adoptive dad and my husband’s grandmother had worked for the same bank 30 years ago in New Jersey.”  Shown below are Laura, her son and his adoptive parents.
