Winter Woodland Wedding Inspiration

A woodland wedding theme is super trendy for late fall and winter weddings. Winter weddings will always be in, but snowflakes and and a blue and white color scheme are out. Forest-inspired affairs are sweeping the wedding industry and are a beautiful option for saying “I do” on a chilly day.

Woodland weddings incorporate many of the same elements and themes as rustic weddings. For a woodsy event, opt for natural items like leaves, burlap, and of course, wood! Mason jars are frequently used for a vintage look and are extremely versatile. You can use them in your centerpieces or decor as vases or candle holders. String lights are an inexpensive way to create an intimate atmosphere, and also make it easy to create lighting for an outdoor reception.

Antlers are a cute design for a woodland wedding. I adore these antler bottle openers from Little Things Favors! They make practical wedding favors and can be a fun DIY project by adding ribbons or tags.

These faux birch log card holders can also double as your seating assignments + wedding favors. Or, use them to hold table numbers, directional signs, or menus.

Nothing says “winter” like the smell of pine. Use sprigs of pine leaves or even pine cones in the bouquet for a touch of the forest in your flowers. Naked wedding cakes have a boho vibe to them, and chalkboards can be used for any of your signage needs. I also LOVE the idea of having blankets available for an outdoor event. You don’t have to break the bank either–you can buy them from a thrift store.

A flower crown is a unique addition or even an alternative to a veil. It reminds me of a woodland fairy! And look! More pine! This boutonniere is available on Etsy but can also be easily made if you opt to DIY.

The implied venue for a woodland wedding is, well, the woods! An outdoor wedding amidst the trees isn’t your only option. A barn, lake house, even a castle or location in a woodsy or rural area will also provide that rustic ambiance for your event.
